How it works

The treasurer creates the njangi

Number of places, contribution, meeting day, fines, life events. The rules write themselves.

Members sign up

One link in the WhatsApp group: each member adds their details (and ID if required), then reads and signs the rules.

The draw and the agreement

The treasurer approves the members and runs the draw; the president approves the agreement, which is published to everyone.

Every month, no arguments

Contributions, fines, attendance and minutes in one place, visible to everyone.

  • Checks IDs if the njangi asks for them
  • Approves and publishes the agreement signed by everyone
  • Approves loans from the fund
  • Settles disagreements with a clear history: no more arguments

Every change on record

Who changed what, and when: if there's a disagreement, the answer is in the njangi book.

Clear roles

Treasurer, president, secretary, censor: each one sees and does what the rules say.

Frequently asked questions

What is a njangi?

A njangi, or tontine, is a rotating savings group (ROSCA): at each meeting every member pays the same contribution, and members take turns receiving the whole pot. It is also called likelemba, susu or esusu. NjangiBook keeps its book: members, rules, order of turns, contributions and fines.

Who is NjangiBook for?

For njangi and tontine groups of families, friends, associations or colleagues, in Cameroon, across Africa and in the diaspora, in Italy and elsewhere in Europe. The treasurer creates the njangi; the president, the secretary, the censor and every member have their own access.

Does NjangiBook hold our money?

No, never. Members keep paying in cash or by bank transfer, as they always have. NjangiBook just records who paid what, and when.

Do members have to install an app?

No. Everyone gets a personal link on WhatsApp. They can add it to their phone's home screen, just like an app.

What happens if someone pays late?

The treasurer records the date the money came in. If it's after the deadline, the fine set in the rules is calculated automatically (fixed amount or percentage).

How does the draw work?

Once every place is ready, the draw sets the order of the months. It runs live on a wheel that every member watches from their own link, or instantly; it is certified, recorded with the date and time. A njangi can also keep the traditional draw by hand and record the result afterwards.

Can two people share a place?

Yes: each pays half, and they receive the njangi together in the same month.

Is ID required?

Each njangi decides. If it is required, it's encrypted, visible only to the treasurer and the president, and deleted at the end.

Which languages and currencies?

The site is available in French, English and Italian. Each njangi chooses its own language (rules, emails) and currency: euro, CFA franc, dollar, pound or Swiss franc.

How much does it cost?

NjangiBook is free while we launch.
